In 1885 Metis leader Louis Riel proclaimed, “My people will sleep for one hundred years and when they awake it will be the artists that give them their spirit back.” He was right! The Indigenous artists are THE AWAKENERS! That's what acclaimed, indigenous singer and song writer, Laura Vinson has learned in her journey to cope with her own hearing loss as she meets extraordinary Indigenous people with disabilities who are artists. Their art is an enriching experience for them and for all those who receive the beauty and transformative experience that their spirit born art carries.
