Celtic Tides is a music-driven, one-hour television special that explores the force and phenomenon of Celtic Music’s renaissance in the 1990’s.

The appeal of Celtic music is universal. From the Riverdance phenomenon and the record-breaking, Celtic-tinged Titanic soundtrack to millions of album sales from artists like The Chieftains and Loreena McKennitt, this trend is growing exponentially.

From the earthy, unassuming ballads of Ireland, Scotland’s charming traditional tunes and the music’s migration to North America – the program traces the roots and flow of Celtic music and offers an intimate look at the artists and landscapes that shape and define Celtic music. Featuring performances, interviews and anecdotes with today’s leading Celtic artists and groups such as Grammy Award winners The Chieftain, Loreena McKennitt, Maire Brennan (Clannad), Mary Black, Altan, Capercaillie, Dougie MacLean, Ashley MacIsaac, The Rankin Family, among others. Shot on location in Ireland, Scotland, Canada and the USA.
